Personality of a Siberian

I’d like to start with saying all cats are different and have their individual personalities and quirks. I am just talking overall Siberians seem to be A, B, and C. But that is the beautiful thing about your pet, right? That they are uniquely themselves. That is why we love them (along with many other reasons).

Cat or dog?

Maybe both? Siberians are often referred to as being dog-like. But how? The list goes on and on.

Many Siberians like water and may join you in the shower or tub. They often lay in sinks or on a freshly mopped floor. Belly rubs and rolling on their back is another dog-like trait they have (see above photo). Siberians love to be pet and groomed (why not help them out). I currently have a Siberian that likes to lick my hands and nose or chin will she gets cozy on my lap. How bizarre and lovely.

Unlike many other cats I have met, Siberians like to be around other animals and get along well with children. Most Siberians love dogs. They will forever play and snuggle together.

Calm yet playful

Common qualities of a Siberian include: playful, loyal, calm, curious, and adventurous.

I’d be lying if I said they stopped playing as they got older. These cats are quite spunky. Carrying toys (even larger dog toys) around the house is not uncommon, neither is playing fetch.

They will always love spending time with you and your family. Whatever it may be, they want to be there. Game night, movie night, bath time, a (leashed) walk around the neighborhood, you name it, they want to be there.

Exploring and observing are probably the top favorite hobbies of Siberians. They know how to quickly switch between the two when the opportunity arises. One moment they may find the guest room door is left open and will go snooping in the closet, the next moment they are casually watching you sing karaoke or make the bed.

Chatty catty

Tired of talking to yourself? No worries. Your Siberian will be there to listen and even talk back.

Sometimes I think we really are having a conversation. With all of the different noises Siberians communicate with, you may have the same feeling. Normal cats meow and purr, but do they also mew, chirp, and trill?

If you don’t believe me, get a Siberian. Tell me they aren’t the best cats. I dare you.
